ABOUT ME
Vanya Petrova, attorney-at-law, has obtained her LL.M. degree from the
Faculty of Law of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. She has three specializations:
in Administrative Law, International Law and European Union Law.
She earned a second degree in the field of economics in 2007, having completed a
programme in Accounting and Control at St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of
Veliko Tarnovo.
She has gained her substantial professional experience exclusively in the area of tax
law and tax law implementation. Her career as a practicing legal professional began
in 2000 in the former Chief Tax Directorate. She has worked at the National Revenue
Agency for 14 years altogether, shifting among various expert and management
positions – Chief Legal Advisor of the Appeals Department with Sofia Regional Tax
Directorate, at Sofia Appeals and Administration of Enforcement Directorate, and as
a Team Leader and Deputy Head of the Appeals Department with Sofia Appeals and
Tax and Social Security Practice Directorate.
As an expert practicing in the structure of the National Revenue Agency, she has
issued hundreds of draft resolutions in response to appeals against tax assessment
acts, offset and refund acts and other acts issued by revenue authorities.
She has acted as a legal representative before various courts in a large number of tax cases, including cassation cases before the Supreme Administrative Court of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Since the beginning of 2012 she has been providing tax-related trainings and seminars across the country under the auspices of the Kr. Tsonchev Foundation with the Supreme Bar Council. Since 2013 she has been the Foundation’s chief lecturer in tax-related seminars.
Since the beginning of 2014 she has been a registered attorney-at-law with Sofia Bar Association.
Since the beginning of 2014 she has been the chief lecturer of Procredit Bank AD and has hosted a number of seminars countrywide on the amendments to the Value Added Tax Act and the Tax and Social Security Procedure Code.
In May 2014 she joined the team of authors of the Accounting, Taxes and Law (Schetovodstvo, danatsi i parvo) magazine issued by Labour and Law (Trud i pravo) Publishing House, where a few articles of hers have been published.
